Popcorn in Paradise is our local kettle corn vendor. When you approach Patty Alexander’s popcorn stand, the sweet smell of fresh popped kettle corn instantly delights your nose and taste buds alike.
Popcorn in Paradise has been popping this delicious sweet treat for six years. When Patty was little a little girl, she aspired to become the ice cream man. She dreamed of driving around an ice cream truck, wearing a white suit and cap. She wanted to be the women filling the neighborhoods with delicious creamy cheer. Her parents, however, had other plans for her life. Being the ice cream man was not a real job. So Patty went off to college and later became a licensed real estate agent. She got married and had children but was not ready to give up her lifelong dream. Six years ago, she began writing a business plan. No, she was not becoming the ice cream man. Fueled by a love for kettle corn, Patty began the groundwork for what would become Popcorn in Paradise.
The popcorn offered at Popcorn in Paradise is sourced from Green Valley Foods in Grantsville. She loves to experiment with flavors, and one can expect funky flavors such as salt and vinegar, Mexican, Italian, Jalapeno Cheddar, and for the true Marylanders, Old Bay. For the fruit lovers, she offers Strawberry, Banana, and Blueberry along with the tried and true original and caramel kettle corn.
Today, Popcorn in Paradise can be found at the Downtown Cumberland Market, City Place in Frostburg, Canal Place, Jamboree in the Hills, Del fest, Heritage Days, and anywhere within a three-hour radius of Frostburg. Popcorn in Paradise also offers fundraising opportunities and bulk sales, March through December.
